Muhammad Aqil Faizal, a Foundation in Science and Arts student from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI), made the nation proud by winning a gold medal in the team event at the 2025 Asian Youth Bowling Championship.
The championship was held in Doha, Qatar, on 28 July and brought together some of the region’s most promising young bowlers.
Representing Malaysia, Muhammad Aqil played a crucial role in securing the top podium finish in the boys’ team event.
The Malaysian team amassed a total of 5,198 pins, outscoring strong contenders Kuwait and Qatar.
Kuwait finished second, while the host nation, Qatar, settled for third place.
This remarkable achievement marks a historic milestone for the national youth bowling squad.
His success, however, did not stop with the team event.
He went on to clinch a bronze medal in the men’s individual category, finishing behind competitors from Kuwait and Qatar.
“The entire UniKL community, particularly UniKL MSI, celebrates his achievements with pride.
“Aqil’s dedication and success serve as an inspiration to his peers and reflect UniKL’s strong commitment to holistic student development,” said UniKL MSI Deputy Dean (Student Development & Campus Lifestyle), Ts. Mohd Suyerdi Omar.
