From classroom creativity to the professional runway, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) fashion design student Ashabul Khafi Mohd Hami showcased his creative talent at FIOLE x MODA Next Wave 2026, held on 5 October 2026 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
Representing Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI), the Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (BFDM) student joined a select group of 10 emerging designers and 10 hairstylists tasked with creating complete runway-ready looks.
The showcase formed part of Fashion in Motion 2026, a month-long festival organised by the Malaysia Official Designers Association (MODA) in collaboration with Pavilion Malls.

Through its collaboration with FIOLE, Next Wave 2026 provided a professional platform for emerging talents to demonstrate their creativity while exploring the intersection of fashion design, hairstyling and visual presentation.
For Ashabul Khafi, the experience went beyond showcasing his creative vision. It offered valuable exposure to Malaysia’s professional fashion industry, where innovative concepts are transformed into runway presentations through teamwork, creative coordination and technical execution.
His participation also reflects UniKL MIDI’s commitment to industry-oriented education, encouraging students to translate academic knowledge into real-world creative experiences.

Through its Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing programme, UniKL MIDI nurtures emerging talents by connecting fashion education with practical industry exposure, equipping students with the creativity, adaptability and professional competencies required in today’s evolving creative economy.
The initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, through experiential learning and industry-relevant skills development, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by supporting the development of future creative professionals.
It also contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the importance of collaboration between higher education and industry platforms in nurturing young talent.
