Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) through its Center for Alumni and Career Services (CACS) has brought together 13 ‘Nakhoda Kemajuan’ (the alumni of UniKL) who are working at UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital, in an engagement session held yesterday (31 March 2022).

Dubbed ‘Jom Ngopi’ or ‘Jom Ngetih’ Nakhoda Kemajuan, the engagement session was held as part of an effort to exchange views and information between the university and its alumni.

“It (the engagement session) was held in a relaxed manner so that we could learn about their current development and gain perspective on the industry that they are working in. Additionally, we were given the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to their supervisor, and their responses to Nakhoda Kemajuan have been generally positive.

“I hope the input gained can serve as an inspiration to the UniKL students and in return, provide guidance and mentoring,” said the Director of UniKL CACS, Azrul Hisyam Abdul Rahman.

There are approximately 30 Nakhoda Kemajuan of UniKL who are working at the specialist hospital’s pharmacy unit alone.

Sharing it after the engagement session, Mohamad Shazwan Samsuddin – an alumnus of UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) and now employed as Assistant Pharmacy Officer (CDR Sterile Unit) expressed his gratitude to UniKL CACS for holding such a leisurely sitting session.

“For us (Nakhoda Kemajuan), this is a source of pride because the university continues to be concerned about the progress of our work.

“I can feel that we are appreciated, and I feel that we should contribute even more to the success of the university,” told him.

In 2020, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) produced the largest number of employable graduates compared to other private higher learning institutions (IPTS), according to a report by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).

In the same year, UniKL’s graduate employability percentage increased to 96.1% as compared to the previous year with 95.26% and these percentages are higher than the national average of 84.4%.
