Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) has successfully upskilled 30 aerospace technicians and engineers through industry-relevant certification programmes, particularly for the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector.
Organised by UniKL MIAT’s Centre for Advancement & Continuing Education (ACE), in collaboration with the National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO), the training programme titled Aerospace Bridging and Upskilling Program was held on 13 May 2025.
According to the Dean of UniKL MIAT, Dr. Mohd Hafizi Shamsudin, the physical training session drer participants from key aerospace companies, including Hammock Helicopters, Galaxy Aerospace, Raya Airways, BHIC Submarine Engineering Services, Leonardo Helicopters, and AIROD.
“This training aims to enhance the skills and qualifications of Malaysia’s aerospace workforce, strengthening the nation’s position in the global aerospace industry.
“Aviation is not just about the destination; it’s about the journey and the experiences along the way,” said Dr Mohd Hafizi.
He also emphasised the importance of continuous upskilling and the critical role aerospace talents play in driving Malaysia’s industrial growth.
The initial sessions focused on Category B1.3 and B2 certifications, equipping participants with the necessary competencies to meet current industry standards.
