Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national education landscape by hosting the 20th Government-Linked Universities (GLU) Council Meeting on 30 April 2025.
The meeting served as a platform for UniKL to enhance partnerships with fellow GLU institutions and to foster discussions on future collaborations and shared initiatives.
GLU comprises four key institutions—UniKL, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Multimedia University (MMU), and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN)—and was formally established in 2016.
This strategic alliance promotes excellence in academic development, research and innovation, student empowerment, sustainability, and good governance.
The Council meetings, held on a rotational basis among member institutions, are central to aligning efforts across these pillars.
GLU’s mission is to leverage the collective strengths of its members to contribute to nation-building, elevate educational quality, support sustainability, and enhance institutional branding.
Collaborative efforts span teaching and learning, research, and student development—aligned with the aspirations outlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint for Higher Education.
Notably, the GLU institutions have established themselves among Malaysia’s top universities, with consistent appearances in global rankings such as QS and Times Higher Education (THE).
As of now, all four institutions are ranked among the top 25 universities in Malaysia in both rankings.
