Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) brought together its employees and students for the Bubur Lambuk Mega, a heartwarming initiative that saw the preparation and distribution of bubur lambuk to 32,850 members of the university community.
At the same time, the Jaulah Iftar gathered the UniKL community from the Klang Valley at UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI).
The event was co-organised with Sinar Harian, while Mahsuri Dagang Sdn Bhd contributed 180 pizza boxes to the attendees.
“Today, we continue the Bubur Lambuk Mega UniKL tradition, with all 12 UniKL campuses simultaneously preparing bubur lambuk from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.
“I have been informed that this year, 102 large pots of bubur lambuk were prepared. Additionally, Yayasan UniKL has taken the initiative to distribute 1,200 Sahur packs, with each campus receiving 100 packs.
“May these efforts by UniKL support our students and serve as a means for the UniKL community to continue their worship during this blessed month,” said Dato’ Sri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali, Chairman of UniKL, during the Jaulah Iftar and Bubur Lambuk Mega ceremony held on 20 March at UniKL BMI.
The event was also graced by the Head of the Zakat Consultancy Department (Collection Division) at Lembaga Zakat Selangor, YBhg Mohd Hairulazlan Ramlan; President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin; Deputy President (Student Development and Campus Lifestyle) of UniKL, Prof. Ts. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long; Dean of UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) and the Chairman of Tabung Amanah Zakat UniKL (UniZ@UniKL), Ts. Dr. Zulkifli Mahmoodin; and the Dean of UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI), Dr. Badli Shah Mohd Yusoff.
The ceremony also witnessed the handover of zakat contributions from UniKL and MFI Sdn Bhd to Lembaga Zakat Selangor, totalling RM548,022.
This year, 337 asnaf students will receive zakat amounting to RM347,750.00, with each ‘asnaf fakir’ receiving RM1,150.00, and each ‘asnaf miskin’ receiving RM950.00.
Meanwhile, the total zakat distribution by UniKL to its students in 2024 has reached RM612,271.83, marking a 69% increase from RM362,138.00 in 2023.
