Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) alumni have contributed a total of RM130,000 to the newly launched Wakaf MARA Madani, an initiative aimed at fostering socio-economic empowerment within the Bumiputera community.
Mohd Izwan Mazlan, an alumnus of UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) and recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award in Leadership at the UniKL Alumni Appreciation Night 2024, donated RM100,000 to support Majlis Amanah Rakyat’s (MARA) sustainable waqf initiatives.
Mohd Izwan, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Perniagaan Mazlan & Hashimah (K) Sdn Bhd (PMH), expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute.
“May every small step we take continue to bring goodness, open doors to abundant sustenance, grant lasting blessings and earn continuous rewards.
“Additionally, PMH is honoured to be part of a waqf initiative that uplifts the ummah’s economy and gives back to the community, society, and the nation,” he said.
In addition, the UniKL Alumni Association (UNIKMA), through its President Muzammil Arif Kamaruddin, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Bumiputera socio-economic development by contributing RM30,000 to the Wakaf MARA Madani.
Wakaf MARA Madani is a socio-economic empowerment initiative formulated as part of the resolutions from the Bumiputera Economic Congress (KEB 2024).
Officially launched by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim on 15 March in conjunction with MARA’s 59th anniversary, the initiative underscores MARA’s role in economic transformation.
MARA has been officially appointed as the Mutawalli (waqf asset administrator) for Wakaf MARA Madani by Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP), effective January 2025, for a period of five years.
Additionally, the initiative has received approval from the Ministry of Finance, granting a tax deduction of up to 10% of aggregate income under Section 44 (11C) of the Income Tax Act 1967.
