“UniKL has earned national and international recognition. Many parents and students place their trust in this institution—so it is our responsibility to uphold its reputation.”
That was the key message delivered by the Director General of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azhar Abdul Manaf, during the UniKL Leadership Talk with the university’s management and staff.
He emphasised that to sustain UniKL’s achievements, the institution must remain committed to its vision and mission while continuing to build upon past successes.
While acknowledging UniKL’s strong global standing and brand recognition, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azhar also highlighted the importance of increasing international student enrolment.
“To achieve this, our teaching staff must continuously upskill themselves. Take the opportunity to further your studies to meet today’s industry standards,” he urged.
Held on 21 February, the leadership talk underscored that the success of UniKL is not solely the responsibility of its management but requires the collective effort of the entire ecosystem.
Also in attendance were UniKL President/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin; Deputy President (Student Development and Campus Lifestyle), Prof. Ts. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long; Covering Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Muhammad Hafidzi Abu Bakar, along with other top management members and staff.
UniKL is wholly owned by MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd (MARA Corp), a subsidiary under the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).
Since his appointment, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azhar has placed strong emphasis on education and entrepreneurship to uplift the Bumiputera community.
Currently, nearly 80% of UniKL students receive financial assistance from MARA.
