“The 100 percent graduate employability rate is a strong signal that the rail industry offers robust job prospects with competitive salaries,” emphasised YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, Chairman of Selangor State’s Investment, Trade, and Mobility Committee, during his visit to UniKL MIDI on July 2, 2024.
He said that the country needs a significant influx of talent, although there may still be misconceptions about the industry.
“With projects like the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) set to commence operations in 2027, the demand for skilled professionals continues to grow.
“I am pleased to note that UniKL MIDI has achieved a 100 percent graduate employability rate. This accomplishment underscores plentiful job opportunities and attractive salaries.
“I look forward to further collaboration between the state government, academia, and industry,” he affirmed.
During the visit, YB Tuan Ng Sze Han toured various railway equipment facilities at UniKL MIDI, including the LRT Depot, Trackwork System, Signalling System, Track Interlocking System, and Full-Scale Operation Control Centre.
The event was attended by delegates from Malaysia Rail Development Corporation (MRDC) and Invest Selangor.
For the record, UniKL reported an increased graduate employability rate, rising to 97.5% in 2023 from 97.1% the previous year, surpassing the national average of 89.8%, as per data released by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
UniKL MIDI, along with UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), and UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) achieved a perfect employability rate of 100%, affirming their position as leading private higher educational institutions in Malaysia.
