The Mechanical Engineering section of Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) has donated RM661 to improve access to clean water for underserved communities in Bangladesh.
The donation, handed over to Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) on May 9, 2024, will support the Dana Wakaf Sistem Air (DWAS) project, also known as the Tube Well Waqf.
Pooled from contributions by UniKL MFI staff and alumni, this donation underscores the university’s commitment to impactful community service and continues its collaboration with IRM.
The donation ceremony at UniKL MFI was attended by the DWAS Donation Person In Charge; Dr. Muhammad Nur Farhan Saniman, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Section at UniKL MFI, Dr. Khairul Azhar Mohamad; and Aidel Qayyum Mahmood from IRM.
During the event, IRM presented an appreciation plaque to UniKL MFI, recognising the university’s sustained support for humanitarian projects.
Aidel Qayyum Mahmood expressed deep gratitude for UniKL MFI’s ongoing support, emphasising the significant impact of the Tube Well Waqf project in providing essential clean water resources to Bangladeshi communities.
This donation follows a notable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project titled “INVOLVED: Seaside Revive,” conducted on December 3, 2023.
In this project, 28 students from the United Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Association (UMEA) and eight lecturers from the Mechanical Engineering section collaborated to clean Kelanang Beach in Banting, Selangor.
The initiative not only promoted environmental awareness among participants but also strengthened community ties.
UniKL MFI’s dedication to community service sets a benchmark for impactful collaborations between educational institutions and humanitarian organisations.
