Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has marked its first entry into the world university ranking for sustainability, placing the institution among those actively championing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Joining three other newly listed institutions, which are the University of Nottingham Malaysia, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, and the University of Cyberjaya, UniKL is now among 33 Malaysian universities featured in the ranking.
UniKL was listed alongside nearly 2,000 universities evaluated globally in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, which was released yesterday.
Among the nine “performance lenses” used to assess institutions, UniKL performed best in the Knowledge Exchange indicator with a score of 81.5.
“Performance lenses” refer to the thematic groupings of indicators used in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability to evaluate a university’s environmental and social impact.
The President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, said the achievement reinforces the university’s ongoing commitment to embedding sustainability values across its academic, research, and industry collaboration ecosystem.
“Our first appearance in the global sustainability rankings affirms the progress we have made in driving impactful initiatives across the university.
“Sustainability is no longer an option but a responsibility, and UniKL will continue to champion initiatives that benefit the nation and the wider global community,” he said.
Under the broader QS University Rankings 2026 series, UniKL was also acknowledged in the overall world ranking and featured among leading institutions in Asia.
