Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) strengthened its international academic engagement and global pharmacy education network through the International Pharmacy Immersion Programme (IPIP) 2026, which concluded on 26 September 2026.
Held from 14 to 26 September 2026, the two-week programme welcomed 18 international participants from North South University (NSU), Bangladesh, offering them an immersive learning experience in pharmacy, health sciences and Malaysia’s healthcare environment.
Organised by the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (FPHS), in collaboration with the UniKL RCMP International Office (UIO) and Pharmacy Student Society (PSS), IPIP 2026 extended learning beyond conventional classroom settings.
Participants took part in academic sessions, clinical and industry visits, cultural exchange activities and community engagement initiatives, allowing them to gain broader exposure to pharmacy practice and healthcare education in Malaysia.
Through interactions with healthcare professionals, industry representatives, the university community and local stakeholders, the participants experienced different dimensions of professional pharmacy practice while developing their intercultural competencies and professional networks.
The programme also provided a platform for international student mobility and knowledge exchange between UniKL RCMP and North South University, strengthening institutional ties between Malaysia and Bangladesh.
Beyond academic exposure, IPIP 2026 encouraged participants to understand how healthcare education, industry practice and community needs intersect in real-world settings.

The approach reflects UniKL RCMP’s emphasis on experiential learning and industry-relevant education in preparing future healthcare professionals.
The successful programme was supported by various departments and units across UniKL RCMP, including Academic Services, UIO and PSS, together with external partners that contributed to its activities.
Their collective involvement demonstrated how university-industry-community collaboration can enrich international learning experiences while supporting stronger global academic partnerships.
IPIP 2026 also reinforces Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s broader commitment to internationalisation, student mobility and cross-border academic collaboration, areas that contribute to the global visibility and reputation of higher education institutions.
The initiative primarily supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through pharmacy and healthcare education; SDG 4: Quality Education through international and experiential learning; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through cross-border institutional collaboration between UniKL RCMP and North South University.
