The Raja Muda of Selangor, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia, Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, embarked on his inaugural visit to the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT).
This visit was part of the ‘Jelajah Gagasan Rumpun Selangor,’ which commenced on June 19th. During his approximately one-hour tour, Tengku Amir Shah explored various campus facilities.
One of the highlights of his visit was the inspection of the campus’s helicopter hangars, which operate under the teaching factory concept. These hangars are part of a collaborative effort with aerospace industry partners such as Hammock Helicopter Sdn Bhd and Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn Bhd.
Tengku Amir Shah also visited the Advanced Flight Simulation Centre, which provides Aircraft Type Rating Training Programme for Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Additionally, he was introduced to the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development projects under Hammock Robotics.
The Raja Muda was accompanied by the palace dignitaries as well as the Chairman of the State Rural Development, Unity, and Consumers Committee, Datuk Hj. Rizam Hj. Ismail; Kota Damansara Assemblyman, YB Tuan Izuan Kasim; and the Mayor of Shah Alam City Council, YBhg. Dato’ Haji Mohd Fauzi Haji Mohd Yatim.
Also in attendance were the President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin; Dean of UniKL MIAT, Dr. Mohd Hafizi Shamsudin; and top management representatives from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), MARA Corporation, and UniKL.
Notably, between 2019 and 2023, a total of 87 UniKL MIAT graduates have been employed by Galaxy Aerospace, and 25 by Hammock Helicopter.
Other aerospace companies operating at UniKL MIAT include My One Helipaint, Sauber Protech Engineering, Pen Aviation, Testia Asia Pacific Airbus, and Malaysian Helicopter Services.
To date, UniKL MIAT boasts an active student body of 1,604 with an impressive employability rate of 98.1%.
