The newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd, YBhg. Mr. Zulkarnain Taman, made his inaugural visit to Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s (UniKL) Perak campuses, comprising UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) and UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET), on December 20.
During his visit, Encik Zulkarnain expressed his pride in UniKL alumni and their significant contributions to MARA Corporation’s commercial ventures.
“As your Group CEO, I want to assure you that MARA Corporation stands with you every step of the way. We are here to support your vision, invest in your growth, and collaborate to ensure UniKL continues to thrive and inspire,” he affirmed.
Mr. Zulkarnain received briefings on the operational status and growth strategies of both campuses, emphasising the importance of operational efficiency, strategic expansion, internationalisation, and commercialisation.
He particularly highlighted opportunities in the healthcare and maritime industries, underscoring their potential to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of UniKL RCMP and UniKL MIMET.
At UniKL RCMP, Encik Zulkarnain toured the pharmaceutical laboratory, a cornerstone of the campus’s contribution to healthcare education. At UniKL MIMET, he visited key facilities, including the Shipyard and Fiberglass Workshop, Marine Workshop, Fabrication Workshop, and the Wave Tank.
Accompanying him were Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim, Director of Group Corporate Planning at MARA Corporation, and Prof. Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir, UniKL’s Deputy President (Academic & Technology).
UniKL MIMET plays a vital role as a centre of excellence in Malaysia’s maritime and shipbuilding industries, contributing to the nation’s aspirations of becoming a global maritime hub.
