The working visit highlighted UniKL MFI’s significant contribution in producing highly skilled graduates, particularly in high-impact engineering and technology fields aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0).
Established in 1995 through collaboration between Malaysia and France, UniKL MFI currently has 2,427 students, including 47 international students from 20 countries.
To date, the institute has produced more than 11,000 alumni and 1,260 Pre-France graduates.

During the visit, the YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid toured UniKL MFI’s key facilities, including the Centre for Water Engineering Technology (CWET), a hub for international collaboration in water engineering, and the Electric Vehicle Workshop, where students demonstrated their expertise in electric mobility technology.
Through CWET, UniKL actively partners with leading institutions in the Netherlands such as Deltares, KWR, and Royal HaskoningDHV, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in water engineering research and sustainable energy solutions.
The Robotics Showcase was also featured, presenting innovations and projects by UniKL students and researchers that highlight the university’s capabilities in advancing future-oriented TVET training.
For the record, UniKL MFI is recognised as a Centre of Excellence (COE) in two WorldSkills areas, which are Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC) and Mechanical Engineering CAD (MECAD).
Among its notable achievements are gold and silver medals in the ASEAN Skills Competition, as well as participation in WorldSkills International competitions in São Paulo, Abu Dhabi, and Kazan.
