The Centre for Women Advancement and Leadership (CWAL), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), has taken another significant step to advance women’s empowerment in aviation through an engagement session with industry leaders, NGOs, and academia.
Held on 24 September 2025, the Breakfast with Industry: Aviation & Aerospace programme brought together representatives from the aviation and aerospace sectors, women’s non-governmental organisations, and academia in a collaborative platform aimed at enhancing women’s participation, leadership, and empowerment in the industry.
The event was officiated by UniKL Deputy President for International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership (IIIP), Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi Hassan, together with CWAL Director Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zuhanis Mansor, UniKL MIAT Deputy Dean (IIIP) Mr. Syed Idrus Syed Omar, and UniKL MIAT CWAL Coordinator Dr. Hazariah Mohd Noh.
In their opening remarks, the leaders highlighted the importance of strengthening women’s representation and inclusivity in aviation and aerospace, while creating more leadership opportunities in line with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Participants had the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and discuss future initiatives to reinforce women’s roles in technical and leadership positions.
The dialogue also underscored the significance of industry-academia collaboration in creating sustainable pathways for women to thrive in the sector.
Adding further impact, Ideas for Aerospace (ID4A@MIAT) supported the programme by producing a special podcast session themed “Women Empowerment”.
The initiative extended the event’s outreach, amplifying the voices of women leaders, industry experts, and NGOs to inspire more women to take part in shaping the future of aviation and aerospace.
