A senior lecturer from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Business School (UniKL BIS), Dr Arman Ahmad, has been appointed as the Country Chapter Head (Malaysia) by the International Islamic Marketing Association (IIMA).
This international appointment positions UniKL BIS as a key institutional representative for Malaysia in advancing Islamic marketing education, certification, research, and strategic collaboration nationwide.
The appointment was formally conferred by IIMA and took effect on 1 February 2026, as stated in the official Certificate of Appointment issued by the association.
It was endorsed by the Founder and President of IIMA, Professor Baker Ahmad Alserhan, in recognition of Dr Arman’s academic standing, professional credentials, and leadership capability to spearhead Islamic marketing initiatives across Malaysia.
Dr Arman’s appointment builds on a strong track record of professional and institutional achievements.
He is among the early Malaysian Muslim Bumiputera to attain Fellow Chartered Marketer (FCIM) and Chartered Marketer (CMktr) status with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), United Kingdom.
He has also played a significant leadership role in strengthening UniKL BIS’ global professional standing through international programme recognition.
“This appointment recognises that Islamic marketing and consumerism are not only about market growth, but also about values, ethics, and responsibility. I look forward to working with stakeholders across Malaysia to advance Islamic marketing education and practice together,” said Dr Arman.
This appointment also supports the aspirations of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
He added that the appointment reflects UniKL’s growing influence in specialised and values-driven disciplines at the international level.
Dr Arman also welcomed collaboration with academic staff, researchers, and institutions from both government and private sectors who are interested in organising events, conducting research, or undertaking projects related to Islamic marketing in partnership with UniKL BIS and UniKL.
Notably, UniKL BIS’ Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Marketing received full accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM UK) on 31 July 2024.
UniKL is also recognised as an accredited university partner of CIM UK for its marketing curriculum.
This accreditation provides graduates with multiple exemptions across CIM qualifications (Levels 3, 4, and 6), strengthening UniKL’s international credibility and expanding professional pathways for its students.
Collectively, these milestones reflect a sustained effort in building global recognition for UniKL, MARA institutions, and Malaysia through internationally benchmarked marketing education and professional leadership.
Note: In line with Malaysia’s aspiration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) continues to strengthen and expand its efforts through various initiatives. This article particularly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
