The first group of participants under the Trainer’s Attachment Programme has safely arrived in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.
They will undergo a one-month specialised training at the Hunan Vocational College of Railway Technology (HVCRT) and Hunan Railway Professional Technology College (HNRPC).
This inaugural batch comprises George Samuel Koshy, Head of Section at the Centre for Advancement & Continuing Education (ACE), UniKL Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI), specialising in Electric Locomotive Maintenance; and Pusparini Dewi Abd Aziz, Coordinator at the Malaysia-China Institute (MCI), representing the Power Supply System expertise.
“Structured across three batches from May to September 2025, the programme is designed to enhance the capabilities of UniKL’s academic leaders and railway specialists through six critical modules aligned with the ETS3 Railway System.
“This initiative plays a vital role in aligning UniKL’s academic curriculum with global railway standards,” said Pusparini Dewi.

Launched by UniKL Asia Rail Centre and MCI, the Trainer’s Attachment Programme is part of a larger international collaboration effort and is proudly sponsored by China Railway Company and CRRC Corporation Limited under the Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP).
At the core of this initiative is the development of six specialised training modules that will serve as key references for both the railway industry and academic institutions.
These modules are designed to bridge the gap between current industry demands and academic instruction, ensuring real-world relevance and technological currency.
Co-developed by railway professionals and academic experts, the modules are designed to strengthen safety, foster innovation, and enhance operational excellence within the railway sector.
They also aim to support the integration of these modules into UniKL’s railway-related programmes, ensuring that academic content remains aligned with industry standards.
In addition, the initiative contributes to the development of Malaysia’s pool of highly skilled railway professionals while deepening collaborative ties with China’s leading railway institutions.
