Resilience is the cornerstone of a successful entrepreneur, and challenges, when faced with optimism, are what build that resilience.
“Embrace life’s challenges like a game,” advised Dr. Muhammad Zamir Othman, Vice President (Product) of Southeast Asia’s leading perfume line, SugarBomb Malaysia.
Speaking at the International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Social Sciences (ICETSS 2024) on December 4, he captivated the audience with his relatable analogy.
“In video games, every challenge levels you up,” he said, aligning his message with Gen Z’s love for gaming.
“Challenges give you better skills and tools. Do not wish for an easy life – the only way to get there is to tackle challenges head-on.”
Dr. Zamir drew from his experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when SugarBomb faced severe disruptions in supply chains and halted orders.
Instead of succumbing to the difficulties, the company pivoted, strengthening its online presence and emerging stronger than before.
“The challenges were blessings in disguise,” he reflected, illustrating how adaptability can transform obstacles into opportunities.
Dr. Zamir was joined on the panel by Dato’ Zulkifli Osman, Deputy Director General (Entrepreneurship) of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), and the Head of the Investment Division at Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS).
Dato’ Zulkifli emphasised the importance of collaboration in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“Every business has its objectives, and entrepreneurs need to communicate effectively with entities in their ecosystem. Success is achieved when we work hand in hand,” he remarked.
With the theme Advancing Technopreneurship: Innovations, Opportunities, and Challenges, ICETSS 2024 delved into the evolving dynamics of entrepreneurship and technology.
