Two outstanding students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) gained valuable international exposure after being selected for the UK–MUC Sustainable Entrepreneurship Summer Programme 2026.

Muhammad Farhan Masri and Nur Raudatul Elyza Rozaidi represented UniKL at the programme, held from 20 to 24 July 2026 at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur.

The week-long programme was conducted in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) under the UK–Malaysia University Consortium (UK–MUC) and UKJS.

It brought together students from the United Kingdom, Malaysia and China to explore the foundations of entrepreneurship and develop sustainable business solutions.

Muhammad Farhan and Nur Raudatul Elyza were selected based on their existing abilities in conducting business, strong interpersonal skills and willingness to learn.

These qualities enabled them to communicate confidently, exchange ideas and work effectively with students from different academic and cultural backgrounds.

Their selection reflects UniKL BMI’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial, adaptable and globally competent students who are prepared to respond to real-world economic, environmental and social challenges.

Throughout the programme, participants learned how to identify business opportunities, generate ideas and develop sustainable enterprises using structured problem-solving methodologies.

Among the programme’s key activities was an international group-pitching exercise. The UniKL students collaborated with participants from Malaysia and the United Kingdom to analyse challenges, formulate entrepreneurial solutions and present sustainable business proposals.

Through this experience, Muhammad Farhan and Nur Raudatul Elyza demonstrated teamwork, creativity, critical thinking and effective communication. Their contributions reflected positively on UniKL as a technical university that develops students capable of contributing meaningfully in international and multidisciplinary settings.

The UK–MUC Sustainable Entrepreneurship Summer Programme was designed to inculcate and foster an entrepreneurial mindset among young people.

It also aimed to cultivate a sense of belonging and inspire students to develop sustainable ventures that combine commercial viability with positive social and environmental impact.

The participation of Muhammad Farhan and Nur Raudatul Elyza advances SDG 4: Quality Education by providing experiential and cross-cultural learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

It also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through entrepreneurship and potential employment creation, as well as SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by encouraging innovative and sustainable business development.

The international collaboration between UniKL, Universiti Malaya, LJMU and the wider UK–MUC network further contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
