Twenty industry professionals have strengthened their capabilities in advanced automotive manufacturing technologies after completing a specialised certification programme delivered by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) and Sime Darby Auto Engineering.
Their achievement was celebrated at the Automotive Manufacturing Technologies Certification (AMTC) Graduation Dinner 2026 on 21 August 2026 at Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City, Butterworth.
The graduates completed the Advanced Automotive Manufacturing Technologies Certification Programme, a 12-day training initiative conducted from April to June 2026.
The programme combined technical knowledge with practical competencies designed to meet the evolving needs of the automotive manufacturing industry.
The initiative reflects UniKL MSI’s continued emphasis on industry-relevant technical and professional education, particularly in developing a skilled, adaptable and future-ready workforce for Malaysia’s manufacturing sector.
Among those attending the graduation ceremony were Muhammad Azman Azhari, Plant Manager, Modular Operation, Sime Darby Auto Engineering, and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Nizam Ahmad, Dean and Head of Campus of UniKL MSI, alongside industry representatives, trainers and graduates.
In his remarks, Muhammad Azman highlighted the importance of continuous skills development and industry-driven training in strengthening workforce capabilities and sustaining competitiveness in automotive manufacturing.
He also congratulated the graduates on their commitment and perseverance throughout the programme.
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Nizam, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of strong industry-academia engagement in developing competent talent for Malaysia’s industrial and manufacturing sectors.
He reaffirmed UniKL MSI’s commitment to providing training that responds to industry requirements while supporting national human capital development.
The programme was also supported by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) as part of continuing efforts to strengthen talent development and workforce capabilities.
Such support enables industry-focused training programmes to equip participants with relevant technical skills and competencies required by the manufacturing sector.
Beyond recognising the graduates, the evening provided opportunities for networking and further strengthened the strategic relationship between UniKL MSI and Sime Darby Auto Engineering in advancing technical and professional education.
The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through industry-relevant skills development, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through employability and workforce advancement, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the development of technical capabilities for advanced manufacturing.
