Dr. Ts. Zulkifli Mahmoodin’s journey with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) spans 25 years—exceeding the university’s 23 years of establishment.
He has witnessed UniKL’s transformation from the merger of five Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) technical institutes into a full-fledged university with 13 institutes.
Amusingly, his journey began as a student at the very institution he now leads—UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI).
“In my 25 years of service, one of the fondest experiences I cherish is working alongside my former lecturers.
“A few years later, I was given the responsibility to lead them. It felt awkward at first, but their support and cooperation made the transition smooth. That’s the spirit of UniKL,” shared Dr. Ts. Zulkifli, who was among the recipients of the 25-Year Loyal Service Award (LSA) at the ceremony held on 20 February 2025.
Dr. Ts. Zulkifli joined UniKL BMI in 1999 and was appointed Dean about two years ago.
Another award recipient, Badrul Hisham Ab Razak from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), who received the 10-Year Loyal Service Award, reflected on his time at UniKL.
“As an alumnus and now a staff member, I never realised how quickly 10 years had passed,” he shared.
The Loyal Service & Appreciation Ceremony honours employees for their dedication and contributions to UniKL’s growth and success.
This year, a total of 350 employees, including retirees, were recognised for their service.
