Muhamad Nabil Fikri Haris Fadzilah, 24, has taken to the skies, both literally and metaphorically, as he graduates with a Bachelor of Aircraft Engineering Technology (Honours) in Avionics from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).
His achievement, celebrated during UniKL’s 21st Convocation Ceremony, marks a proud moment for his family, particularly his father, Haris Fadzilah Daud—better known to Malaysians as the iconic 90s singer Aris Ariwatan.
“I am deeply grateful to Allah for this moment. Seeing my son graduate with a bachelor’s degree is a dream come true. I always remind him that knowledge must be pursued while young and used to benefit others,” Aris shared.
The journey to this milestone was a challenging flight. Transitioning from a diploma to a bachelor’s degree at the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) posed unique challenges for Nabil, especially in a demanding and relatively new field like aviation.
“Aviation is unlike any other field—it is unique, challenging, and requires a lot of dedication. But Alhamdulillah, with the unwavering support of my family, friends, and UniKL MIAT’s excellent facilities, I have made it,” said Muhamad Nabil Fikri.
UniKL MIAT’s stellar reputation in the aviation industry heavily influenced his decision to enrol.
“Many industry professionals spoke highly of UniKL MIAT’s expertise in aviation. That played a big role in my decision to pursue my studies here,” he added.
Today, Muhamad Nabil Fikri is not only pursuing a Master’s in Aviation Management at UniKL MIAT, which he is set to complete next year, but he is also working with Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn. Bhd. as part of the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) Planning Executive.
Despite his success, carrying his father’s renowned name has been both an honour and a responsibility.
“Being the son of a well-known figure comes with its pressures. I always feel the need to perform my best in everything because I carry his name. I hope to make my parents proud through my hard work and dedication,” he admitted.
Looking ahead, Muhamad Nabil Fikri’s dreams are as ambitious as the skies he admires.
“In the next 10 years, insya-Allah, I hope to be on the path to becoming a pilot or a licensed aircraft engineer. I believe success comes from working hard and seizing opportunities,” he said.
