The UniKL community witnessed a significant corporate social responsibility event as Etiqa, a leading insurance provider, participated in the Majlis Penyerahan Sumbangan Zakat 2023 event at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) on Monday, 15th January 2024.
Etiqa continued its tradition by giving zakat to 508 students at UniKL. The total amount contributed is RM250,000, providing substantial financial support to students amidst economic challenges. The allocation of funds is given to disadvantaged students based on a list provided by the university.
The Majlis Penyerahan Sumbangan Zakat event is a platform for organizations like Etiqa to extend their support to the community through charitable contributions. Etiqa’s involvement reflects its commitment to fulfilling corporate social responsibility and its aspiration to play a larger role in positively impacting the lives of those in need.
The criteria for zakat distribution are carefully evaluated, considering each student’s specific needs. UniKL collaborates closely with Etiqa to identify and assess the student’s financial circumstances on the list. This collaborative effort ensures that the zakat is distributed equally, addressing the unique challenges faced by each recipient.
