Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) has strengthened its talent development capabilities with the addition of 20 staff members who completed the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) Train-the-Trainer certification programme.
Conducted from 20 to 24 July 2026, the five-day intensive programme was organised by the UniKL MSI Human Capital Unit in collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s Centre for Advancement and Continuing Education (UniKL ACE).
The in-house training initiative was designed to transform technical specialists and subject-matter experts into confident, competent and engaging trainers.
Through the programme, participants learned how to translate their professional and technical knowledge into structured learning experiences that can be effectively delivered to adult learners.
The training covered modern adult learning principles, instructional planning, structured session design, assessment methods and dynamic facilitation techniques.
Participants were also exposed to practical approaches for managing learner engagement, communicating complex information clearly and delivering training that responds to real workplace challenges.
By developing these capabilities, UniKL MSI is enhancing the quality and consistency of its internal staff development programmes while reinforcing UniKL’s commitment to lifelong learning, teaching excellence and industry-relevant technical and vocational education and training.
The programme represents more than an internal professional development exercise. It establishes a certified pool of UniKL MSI trainers who can support future upskilling and reskilling programmes for staff, industry professionals and communities.
UniKL MSI and UniKL ACE are also building on the initiative by incorporating advanced upskilling frameworks centred on problem-based modules, practical applications and competencies aligned with current industry needs.
This approach reflects UniKL’s role as a leading Malaysian technical university in connecting academic and technical expertise with workforce development, knowledge transfer and industry engagement.
With 20 newly certified trainers, UniKL MSI is now better positioned to expand high-quality professional training opportunities across Kulim, Kedah and the northern region of Malaysia.
Developing internal trainers allows UniKL MSI to respond more effectively to emerging workforce needs while ensuring that its professional programmes remain practical, accessible and aligned with changing technologies.
The initiative supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive lifelong learning and strengthening the quality of professional education.
It also contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through workforce upskilling, career development and improved employability, as well as SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by building technical competencies that can support innovation and industrial competitiveness.
