Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Kedah have strengthened their strategic collaboration to develop Bumiputera technopreneurs and industry-ready talent for Malaysia’s rapidly expanding semiconductor and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The high-impact professional training programme, which concluded in Kulim on 28 June 2026, equipped 20 aspiring entrepreneurs with specialised technical knowledge, practical skills and business insights to pursue opportunities within the semiconductor industry’s supply chain.
Titled “Professional Programme: Cleanroom Maintenance and Services for Technopreneurs”, the initiative focused on cleanroom maintenance and support services, a critical technical area serving the semiconductor, electronics, pharmaceutical and precision manufacturing industries.
The programme reflects UniKL MSI’s commitment to technical and vocational education and training (TVET), industry-driven learning, entrepreneurship development and the advancement of Malaysia’s high-technology workforce.

It also supports the country’s ambition to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem through skilled talent development and greater participation by local businesses.
The programme’s closing ceremony was officiated by MARA Kedah Director Mr. Rizal Effendi Razali, who reaffirmed MARA’s commitment to providing a comprehensive support ecosystem that enables Bumiputera entrepreneurs to explore high-value and technology-driven industries.
“MARA remains committed and proactive in assisting Bumiputera entrepreneurs by providing a holistic support ecosystem that enables them to venture into new, high-technology fields.
“The semiconductor sector offers significant market potential. Through specialised training such as this, we aim not only to develop competitive entrepreneurs but also to enable them to seize opportunities within the global industrial supply chain and contribute to the country’s economic growth in line with Malaysia’s National Semiconductor Strategy,” he said.

He added that post-training support would continue to be provided to help participants establish and grow sustainable businesses.
Also present were UniKL MSI Deputy Dean of International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership, Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Norzaimi Che Ani and Senior Manager and Head of the Management and Finance Department, Syed Fairus Afis Syed Mustapha.
Beyond technical exposure, the programme incorporated entrepreneurship development to prepare participants to identify business opportunities and deliver specialised cleanroom maintenance and support services.

Participation in the semiconductor supply chain could enable Bumiputera entrepreneurs to generate sustainable income, create employment opportunities, stimulate local economic activity and develop technology-based businesses with long-term growth potential.
The initiative also contributes to local talent development by producing entrepreneurs who are technically competent, innovative and prepared to respond to the evolving requirements of advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0.
All 20 participants received certificates in recognition of completing the professional programme.
