Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has secured a place in the IPT Futsal League (LFIPT) 2025 Cup, set to take place from 6 to 10 November 2025, as the team eyes a return to championship glory last achieved in 2016.
The qualification came after UniKL finished third in the 2025 IPT Futsal Super League, earning the right to battle against seven other higher learning institutions for the prestigious title.
UniKL futsal coach, Arif Hamidi, expressed confidence that with renewed spirit and a reputation for having some of the league’s best players, UniKL will emerge as one of the strong contenders for the crown.
Although UniKL fell short of the 2025 IPT Futsal Super League trophy, the team shone individually by sweeping three awards at the tournament’s closing ceremony.
Ahmed Haziq Haikal Rashidi (UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology) was named Super League Most Promising Player, Adam Izz Wazif Muhammad Azhar (UniKL Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology) clinched the Super League Top Scorer award, while Muhammad Nurluqman Mohd Zaini (UniKL Malaysia France Institute) was honoured as the Super League Best Goalkeeper.
In the third phase of the league, UniKL started strongly with a commanding 7-3 win over Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) in their opening match, before being held to a 1-1 draw against Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).
The team then wrapped up the phase with a 2-2 draw against Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) Bangi, in matches played from 25 to 28 September at the Azman Hashim Sports Arena, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
Ultimately, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) defended its championship title with 20 points, while UMK claimed second place with 19 points following a 4-1 win over Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).
UniKL finished a respectable third with 18 points, securing their ticket to the LFIPT 2025 Cup.
