Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has further strengthened its position as a leading hub for artificial intelligence (AI) education by formalising a dual partnership with technology solution provider Viztech Sdn Bhd and Byteplus, the technology arm of TikTok’s parent company, Bytedance.
The collaboration, also supported by Digital One Solutions – the certified global distributor for Byteplus – was sealed through a two-year strategic partnership document exchanged on 11 September 2025.
At the same ceremony, Viztech also entered into a collaboration with Neura Sdn Bhd, the technology arm and subsidiary of UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd.
The event was witnessed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dato’ Dusuki; Chief Executive Officer of Digital One Solutions, Mr. Paul Yung; and Chairman of UiTM Holdings, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Fathul Bari Mat Jahya.
Representing UniKL was its President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, while Viztech was represented by its Executive Director, YBhg. Mr. Mohd Shahirul Yunasyrik Mohd Yusof.
The partnership between Viztech, together with its key technology partner Digital One Solutions, Byteplus, and UniKL, is set to reinforce UniKL’s position as a leader in AI education and industry integration.
It will focus on applied research and the joint exploration of AI technologies, the integration of emerging AI trends into academic curricula, as well as the enrichment of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through AI-focused training, internships, industry exposure, and skill development.
In his speech, YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr. Asyraf Wajdi said the expertise of the partners in algorithms, big data, and digital innovation would strengthen UniKL’s academic offerings and enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness in AI.
“UniKL’s vision extends beyond academic partnerships. It is about connecting knowledge to industry, ensuring that research and teaching translate into real applications.
“Inclusivity also lies at the heart of MARA’s mission. UniKL has broadened access to AI through initiatives such as the Professional IT Certification for Tahfiz programme, which equips students with technical skills in information systems and multimedia while developing them as technopreneurs,” he said.
UniKL is also offering AI short courses to the public, democratising access to knowledge and encouraging lifelong learning. Among these are the Advanced Prompt Engineering Certification, Generative AI in Action for Education, and Jumpstart Your Data Journey with Python.
Looking ahead, in October 2025, UniKL will proudly launch its Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence Technology (Hons.).
