The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, visited the Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) booth at Hari TVET Negara 2025, which took place from 11 to 13 June at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC).
He was received by the Dean of UniKL British Malaysian Institute (BMI), Ts. Dr. Zulkifli Mahmoodin and representatives from several UniKL campuses.
His tour of the booth allowed him to explore the university’s latest innovations, especially in sustainable energy and green technologies, which were showcased by UniKL BMI.
According to Ts. Dr. Zulkifli, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid notably remarked, “UniKL ada di mana-mana” (UniKL is everywhere), signifying the institution’s broad presence and its significance across numerous high-value industries.

“From what I understood, his comment emphasised UniKL’s broad expertise, aligning well with our motto: Di Darat, Laut dan Di Langit Tinggi,” he explained.
A key highlight was the Sustainable Energy Living Lab, Malaysia’s pioneering initiative currently being developed at UniKL BMI.
Aligned with Malaysia’s target to achieve net-zero emissions as early as 2050, this lab represents UniKL’s commitment to environmental sustainability through practical research and community-focused energy solutions.
In addition, other UniKL campuses showcased their areas of specialisation, including UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET), Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI), and several others.

Ts. Dr. Zulkifli added, the exhibition booth drew considerable interest, especially around academic programmes and professional certifications in renewable energy, specifically solar power, and other energy services such as audits and monitoring systems.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s public endorsement of UniKL at the event underlined the university’s alignment with Malaysia’s national development goals, particularly in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event provided valuable opportunities for the university to engage with industry stakeholders and the broader community, especially in advancing Malaysia’s workforce and promoting the green economy.
