A total of 81 Semester 2 Diploma in Pharmacy students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) rolled up their sleeves, not only to pitch their products but also to clean up the shores of Teluk Batik Beach during the Beachpreneur programme.
Organised by the Teknoputra Department of UniKL RCMP in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Manjung, Perak, the one-day event, held on 24 May 2025, championed environmental stewardship while offering real-world business exposure in a bustling tourist setting.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Muhamad Amirul Azim Amir, a supervisor from the Environmental Health and Urban Services Department, Majlis Perbandaran Manjung, stressed the importance of youth engagement in sustainable community development.
His message aligned with the dual mission of the event—to foster entrepreneurial mindsets grounded in social and environmental awareness.
Beyond collecting litter and restoring the natural beauty of Teluk Batik, students stepped into the shoes of budding entrepreneurs, engaging tourists and visitors through direct selling and marketing activities.
The event provided a live platform to practise the 5 Ps of marketing, putting classroom theories to the test in a real-world environment.
A hands-on business clinic conducted by Madam Nuruliza Raslan, a lecturer from the Teknoputra Department, sharpened the students’ skills in sales strategy, customer engagement, and product presentation.
She noted that the beach clean-up initiative served as a reminder that future entrepreneurs must also be responsible community stewards.
“They showed that entrepreneurship is not just about profit, it is about people and the planet too,” said Madam Nuruliza in her closing remarks.
Meanwhile, Project Director Afeef Rusyaidi said the programme gave him the confidence to apply classroom knowledge in a practical setting.
“Beachpreneur gave me the confidence to apply what I have learned in class to real customers. It pushed me to step out of my comfort zone,” he said.
As environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria become central to global education standards and institutional benchmarks, UniKL continues to embed these principles into student development.
The Beachpreneur programme, with its fusion of community service and entrepreneurial learning, reflects this commitment—encouraging students to consider not just profitability, but their responsibility to people and the planet.
