Four pioneering students from the UniKL-IHE Delft joint-degree programme have been awarded a golden opportunity to intern at Deltares, a globally renowned institute for water engineering in the Netherlands.
This milestone marks the beginning of a journey for Muhammad Nasran Mohd Nor, Nur Fatiha Mohd Ali, Muhammad Masyriq Hamdan, and Siti NurAisyah Shamsulbahrim, who are part of the programme’s fourth batch.
Starting their internships on July 1st, these students will spend three months immersing themselves in the dynamic and cutting-edge environment at Deltares.
This opportunity stems from a strategic partnership forged between UniKL and Deltares in October 2023, during the Netherlands Prime Minister’s official visit to Malaysia.
The collaboration was further strengthened by a coordination meeting with IHE Delft and Deltares in March 2024.
The internship programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, providing these students with invaluable hands-on experience.
Each intern will engage in real research projects, applying their academic knowledge to tackle practical challenges and contribute to impactful outcomes in the field of water engineering.
Upon completing their internships, the students will return to UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) to complete their final year, ultimately earning two Master of Science degrees in distinct disciplines.
Now in its fifth year, this joint-degree programme exemplifies the commitment to producing highly skilled professionals equipped to address global challenges.
Deltares’ reputation for excellence is underscored by its extensive portfolio, which includes over 1,200 research and consultancy projects across 28 Asian countries.
Being part of such a prestigious institution offers these students not only hands-on experience but also the chance to network with industry leaders and enhance their career prospects.
